Me encanta!!

1,0 de 5 estrellas RAPE AND MORE RAPE!!!

OMG!! I just have to ask does Diane Gabaldon fantasize about Rape!! She must have some kind of fetish for Rape. I know now I will not watch the cable show Outlander on Starz. Their is something wrong with a person that can write descriptive Rape scenes in step by step detail, but only imply the natural loving making scene between husband and wife . In this case Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall Fraser. Why doesn't she describe their loving making? Why not make this a Hot erotic Normal romance? The book is boring. The only action scene if thats what you want to call them are the Rape scenes.Dragonfly doesn't really pick up after bk1 Outlander, Bk2 Dragonfly has Claire back in her time with her 20 year old daughter a few years after her husband Franks death. Then she travels back to Scotland tracing Jamie and what happen to him. She tell her daughter about her time travel an her real father Jamie Fraser. Then we find ourselves in France were bk1 leaves off with her and Jamie arriving their to get his uncles help. to stop the war between Prince Charles the Scot and the British Crown at Cullodon. Only to be up caught up in the whirlwind of Kind Louie's court. One of the young ladies is only a 15 year old virgin and she whines up being brutally raped in a dark alley in the streets of Paris with Claire fighting to keep from being rape while about 5 months pregnant. What the H is going on. I know we are traveling through time but this story doesn't make sense even in time travel. We even have poor Jamie having detailed descriptive nightmares of being Raped and tortured by Captain Black Jack Randall while in prison. But not one descriptive love making scene with him and his wife Claire. There is something wrong with this picture and this author. Sorry don't buy this book or bk.1 Outlander. I have no idea why there are so many 4 and 5 star ratings. I won't be watching Outlander on Starz!! I am quite done with this series and author!!!

1,0 de 5 estrellas Dull writing with one POV.

I have always rather read the books than watch the movies or series that depict them. But it is a first being I would rather watch the series. 80% of the pages are written in Claires POV. Also, if you think the books will be full of lust and passion like the series, think again, it just doesnt happen.

Claire is:
Arrogant
Selfish
Mean
Self Righteous
And a #itch

In the 2nd book, you get a few chaptors with Rogers POV. Seriously, Roger and not Jaime? In the third book you finally get a few chapters that are Jamies. I believe that will be the last we get his POV. There are events that happened to Jamie that should have come from his POV but didnt.

I can usually read 5 or 6 books a month, but with these, its well over a week before Im done. I just get so aggravated with reading Claires POV, I just have to put it down.

I may read the Lord John Grey books, but Im on the fence with this author. These really are not good books and Im so disappointed with how much money I have spent thus far. I just dont think I can force anything else from this story.

1,0 de 5 estrellas Adolescent Writing About Adolescent Characters with Too Many Adjectives, Adverbs, and Atrocious Analogies
Compra verificada
Juvenile writing, lack of story planning, and adult characters behaving like lovesick adolescents become firmly established as author's forte in this second book in the Outlander series.

Excerpt from the Prologue:

"The tears of a bone-deep loss woke me slowly, bathing my face like the comforting touch of a damp cloth in soothing hands. I turned my face to the wet pillow and sailed a salty river into the caverns of grief remembered, into the subterranean depths of sleep."

I feel like I've just sailed into that cavern of grief remembered myself---the grief I imposed on myself by reading this amateurish drivel. Someone call the adjective police. Unless you are stuck with both a seventh grade intellect and emotional developmental level and have a fetish for severe overwriting, you'd best skip this one. This is one of those extremely rare instances where the TV series is better than the books. A mature viewing audience would NEVER stand for such juvenile and cliché characters, not would they tolerate the unfocused, rambling storyline. This is basically a Harlequin romance painfully stretched into a series. The most entertaining part of the deal for me is speculating on who these people are that give it five stars and how abysmally low their expectations in a book must be. Back to my cavern of grief.

1,0 de 5 estrellas Sad excuse for "historic novel"

If you like Hustler you will love this book - if I wanted Pornography I would order it on Pay per View. Totally unnecessary porn as in Mister Raymond putting fingers into Claire's vagina in order to save her life! Randall buggering Jamie and Jamie letting him after Randall had already let Claire leave. Yeah I know he gave his word of honor but I don't believe any true Highlander would let himself be buggered for the sake of honor. If you are anything like me you will find yourself skipping pages at a time in order to avoid this trash.

Boring to the point of fatigue through a lot of it. If you are having trouble sleeping this is the book for you.

Maudlin enough at times to bring on nausea.

Crisis after crisis after crisis and all they have to do after each crisis is bang each other's brains out and that makes everything all right.

I'm sorry I had to give it one star.

1,0 de 5 estrellas If you shave your face, the book is not for you.

OK, first off, if you are a dude, don't waste your time reading this. It's not for us.

I volunteered to read this along with my wife so we could continue having our own 'book club' after reading the first book in this series with her. She won't read any of my thriller authors and being the good husband I am, I figured we could have more in common than 2 kids, the mortgage, a dog and our last name.

I was wrong.

I understand that I'm not the target audience but the book was quite slow and hard to read. The pacing was off, the chapters long and I started talking in a Scottish accent which wasn't as funny to the family as it was to me - I deducted a star just for that. This book isn't as bad as the 50 Shades or Twilight Series but it's defiantly not for guys.

Please save yourself the headache.

1,0 de 5 estrellas Book 2 in Outlander Series is seriously defective -

I just started to read Book 2 of the Outlander series which has 900+ pages and after page 200 dozens of pages were blank (missing). I tried to reach Amazon to get it replaced but they did not help. I wanted to get the whole set but I guess I'll just visit the library. P.S. Book 1 was perfect -- and so enjoyable!

1,0 de 5 estrellas Print is unreadable because it is so small

The paperback is tiny. The print is so small it is a fight to read just one page. Could never make it through 947 pages. Same with Voyager. I am going to return both if I am able to and find another way to read them. What is the purpose of making these books so small -- I know they are long but . . . . .

Too long... Lots of unnecessary detail and at times unquestionable not enough detail... Several times in the book she contradicts what she wrote and while it could be that things have changed she never explains how or why they have you are just expected to figure it out... Plus Claire is super hard and unlikable this time around which makes Jamie seem weak.. I won't be reading the rest of the series unfortunately no one wants to read about 40 year olds reuniting in love... In literature great love and adventure is for the young, growing old is the happy ever after... Plus I can't imagine reading these books without Dougal and Column.... Maybe Diana Gabaldon can go back through the standing stones and rewrite the series after the first book..

1,0 de 5 estrellas Great book (4.5 stars) but TECHNICAL DOWNLOAD issues causing the 1 star
Compra verificada
This is an excellent book warranting 4.5 stars for me but the 1 star doesn't reflect on the content - it is only to reflect that there is a TECHNICAL error as it currently only downloads 148 pages to my lovely Paperwhite (and the listing currently states 158 pages of what should be nearly 900 pages so clearly something is off). Downloaded this in March 2015 to replace my original book (as watching Outlander on Prime) so gutted. Amazon issued a refund and forwarded this as a complaint to some team, but I see the same issue in May 2015 happened so irritating that Amazon aren't rectifying this situation more quickly. Will wait until they sort this foolishness out and then buy the full book when it becomes available. Downloaded book 1 and 3 with no problems so clearly a technical issue specific to the book here.

1,0 de 5 estrellas Couldn't get past 234 pages due to boring story and dull characters

I tried, I really, really tried reading this book especially since I already purchased the next two in the series. Unbelievably boring. I truly can't understand all of the glowing reviews. This is nothing at all like "Outlander." The editing isn't very good either. To the editors: there still isn't a cure for diabetes mellitus...a treatment yes but most definitely no cure. It seems that those rating it a one or two are definitely in the minority but please take what they say into consideration. The story line is beyond dull and the characters are a shadow of their former selves. You will hardly recognize Jamie. He's been lobotomized ...at least for the first few hundred pages. In no way can I recommend this book.
