Dropped a grade in quality under new ownership

Lily's Kitchen transferred their business to private equity firm Catterton who then sold it to Nestlé.
Nestlé changed the best, and most expensive, cat biscuits into just another brand of premium-priced cat biscuits. I'll tell you how I know: I tasted them out of curiosity. The Nestle era ones are darker, harder, pong more, and when I tasted them they have more of the ordinary filler type taste other cat biscuits have. Lily's biscuits used to taste more like concentrated meat stock, that I could eat as treats... if it were not for the fact that they are expensive and I already trust my glossy hair to Timotei.
The positive is, the cat still likes it more than its wet food. But then, it liked Arden Grange, Thrive and once upon a time Ava grain free biscuits, slightly less but they are all so much cheaper. Sometimes you even heard them being chewed.
Lily's cat biscuits are no longer top or on my subscription. I was prepared to pay twice the price per kilo for it than other grain free brands when it was indisputably the best, but it seems to me the search for higher profit margin and lowering the quality risks running this brand into the ground.

Been looking all over trying to find better food for the cats and thought I found the answer in Lily's kitchen. The first bag they couldn't get enough of and I had to stash the bag in a cupboard so they wouldn't tear it apart. However, for some reason, they changed their product and my cats won't touch this (and that is especially worrying since one of my cats eats literally anything put in front of him). It used to be a roundish shape and slightly smaller, now it's triangular and bigger. - and i thought that small a change affecting cat appetites was b.s. =(
Hopefully haven't wasted money and maybe some of the strays will eat it

This was my cat's favourite food and I loved to buy it as quality was great.
The one I received today, however, was nothing like it used to be. It smells like something coming directly from a dumpster.
Not ordering again.

Recipe has changed - old recipe was round light biscuits, they're now dark brown and smaller. The smell is awful and the bag isn't resealable anymore. My cat hates the new recipe.

I have a tortie who is quite possibly the fussiest & sickly cat I've ever had. She has difficulty digesting wet foods so finding a biscuit brand that sits comfortably in her stomach without losing the appeal has been rather challenging.

Whilst a little on the expensive side, I thought I'd give these a go as I've heard good things. Put simply, my cat absolutely loves them and we've had absolutely no issues at all, which cannot be said about other well known brands. I'll definitely be ordering more and may even try the chicken ones as well, just to keep it interesting.

If your cat is fussy with biscuits or has a few digestive problems like mine, I'd recommend giving these a go. My cat seems to love it and she is hard to please!!

All of my 3 cats love this food, they even prefer it to their wet food. One of my cats is allergic to chicken, corn and some other ingredients you can usually find in low quality cat food and Lily's Kitchen Fabulous Fish is just perfect for him. He also has problems with gums and is missing teeth, so even though he isn't picky he'd beg for wet food all the time and rarely eat dry food unless he was really desperate. Fortunately it's not the case anymore.
I recommended it to my friend and her cats love it as well.

It's worth mentioning Lily's Kitchen is an ethical, cruelty-free company, they don't conduct animal testing (most of the popular pet food brands do, in very cruel ways) and uses recyclable dry food packaging.

Lily’s Fabulous Fish used to be my favourite food for our cats. However, with our last purchase, the food seems completely changed. The pieces are smaller, lighter in colour, flatter and softer. Our cats are now eating around them (we mix with another brand). The bag also was not resealable (despite the packaging itself saying it is) and very beaten-up upon receipt. I was so taken aback that I thought I had gotten fake product, but I ordered directly from Lily’s. It’s possible the company just downgraded the ingredients and packaging. Either way, for such an expensive product (2x the price of competitors) I find this disconcerting. I’d recommend Thrive over Lily’s now.

My cat loves the fish mix, I usually order a 2kg bag at a time. BUT the bag clearly says resealable, but there’s no resealable part. Recently I ordered it and it was missing, I thought maybe it was a one off manufacturing error. I just ordered it again last week and once again it has no resealable part to it. I have to wrap it over with a clip to keep fresh. Leads me to believe the product is not genuine. Probably the last time I’ll purchase it as then who knows what I’m actually feeding to my cat.

My cats were on the kitten variant of Lily’s Kitchen from young kittens so progressing to the adult one was a great choice. I choose Lily’s Kitchen because it is a natural food and grain free. It has really good quality ingredients so I feel confident that I am feeding my cats a really good quality food that is good for them. I do feed them this twice a day and then they have wet food so they are on a mixed diet. However this is a complete cat food so can be used exclusively as a main meal for your cat.
I haven’t tried it myself so I cannot comment on the flavour but my cats seem to enjoy it and there is never one piece left. I’ve added a photo of one of my cats not so subtlety hinting that it may be food time.

If my cat was to review these biscuits, it would be 5*. She loves them and had three massive servings in one sitting when we first received it. The reason why I only give it 2* is because these biscuits absolutely stink - not only the kitchen but any adjoining rooms and I have to either cover her food bowl between feeds or apologise to guests walking in as the smell is a cross between moldy used sport socks and someone having recently used the toilet. Consequently I will not be finishing the bag as after 1 month and a half of this very upsetting smell (especially at breakfast), we are switching back to another brand. Shame really as the ingredients are great and my cat loves the biscuits.
