Cover art does not represent the inside?

I am a painter and getting more books on oil painting. The author and painter of this books work is not on the cover. So it’s misleading and uninspiring if then 60% of the book is not to your taste. I can see it’s helpful but personally I’m not keen on her style.
Her work should be on the cover at least?

THIS BOOK IS ALL YOU NEED. The last time I squeezed a tube of open oil paint was twenty years ago. I got the urge to revisit my interest in landscape painting only recently, and decided I needed to recap on mixing and techniques... So I purchased book after book on the subject, and slowly filled up one shelf of the bookcase. A few book's I found quite helpfull, but none had that something special, a book that actually explained the magic of oil painting. Then I purchased this book, and finally I had it, a key that unlocked all those
Questions I wanted answers to.The book is a tad on the top end of some people's book budget, but the information in this book is second to none. Those of you that have unanswered questions (like me) need only buy one book.

This book is one of the most helpful books I have come across since I took up oil painting six years ago. I have been attending classes and would now consider myself as at intermediate stage. It is very well written by an accomplished teacher who loves and understands nature and has I think an empathy with her students. How to paint the individual elements and pull them all together is just what I need. I like the hints and comments and suggestions sprinkled throughout the book. Including examples of other accomplished artists and their approach to different aspects together with Suzanne Brooker's own demonstration work I find most interesting and helpful. Breaking down the elements of the landscape gives a new emphasis to my understanding of it and gives me a renewed enthusiasm to be more successful in my painting. This book together with James Gurney's book on Light& Color are the best guidelines I have found most helpful to date.

This book is a college course in a book. It is absolutely excellent and Suzanne goes into such detail it is amazing. She is a very confident writer and you feel she is speaking directly to you, rather than you reading it in a book. Am looking forward to doing some really good paintings following her teaching.

This is a serious instruction book for the intermediate painter, not for a real beginner. It is quite a dense read but full of useful information. A lot of reading for the number of illustrations or examples to copy. I learnt a lot by going through it one small section at a time

Just starting to paint with oils, but this book is so useful in terms of different techniques. It is also an interesting read with its ‘hands-on’ advice from the artist. Well worth the money!

This is a beautiful book. I've just started oil painting so I don't have any art books to compare it too, but I enjoy reading it and looking at some of the amazing paintings inside.
I will say that it's not really a book for beginners (I bought it knowing that). It doesn't really hold your hand breaking things down into minute steps you can follow. The demonstration paintings are usually a few pictures of beginning, middle, and end.
However, it does have a ton of useful information and I've learnt a lot of terms, styles and different brush strokes. The images and ideas are inspiring and have given me a lot to think about.
I'm very glad to have this as my first proper landscape book.

I have purchased many books on oil painting,as I’m trying to teach myself how to paint in oils and this is by far the best I’ve ever read. This book contains so much information on how to paint a good landscape. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and all the lovely pictures of paintings from many artists including the authors are inspiring.

This book is absolutely great for people who already have some experience in painting landscapes and are willing to get a grip on some more advanced techniques (ie mixing colours, understanding characteristics of different pigments, using solvents and oils, composition tips, brush techniques etc). There are plenty of interesting paintings there / examples that can enhance your understanding of concepts presented. Overall, definitely worth buying for intermediate level artists

New to oil painting I'm still searching for every hint available. I read this book in one sitting and most of it went over my head. The second time, however, it started to sink in and I was able to follow the breakdown in each chapter. Take your time reading this and keep it handy for reference, it is well worth it.
