5,0 de 5 estrellas Very witty typical English humour. Light read, Really enjoyed it.Recommended! Thanks

Just finished reading the book and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably raised few eyebrows keeping a continuous smile on while reading and the occasional giggle on the daily train commute to work). The book focuses on a very shy, yet very witty guy who is very self-deprecating and lonely. He faces various challenges and thanks so his best mate Stu, manages to get back on his feet.
I found his internal dialog really funny, typical English humour. Also reading a romantic (ish) book written by a male writer was really entertaining and telling. I, like many other women no doubt always wonder what's going on it guys minds, especially as they are expected to be making the first move, but they apparently feel equally awkward.
Great book, light read, will check out other books from the same author. Recommended.

I don't usually have time for a review but I had to with this one. Probably one of the funniest books Ive ever read and laught out loud funny at that. Probably not for the girls especially any feminists out there.

Greg has found out his wife has had an affair leaving photographic evidence of her adultery all over their bedroom, sure its his boss he confronts and punches him only to find out its a case of mistaken identity. What does a man do when he loses both wife and job? He becomes and escort of course with the help and advice of his best friend Stu who is already a very successful escort himself. What follows is so funny I laughed almost to the point of tears.

If you want to have a good laugh this is a must read..what are you waiting for??

5,0 de 5 estrellas Cracking Little First Novel - Don't Miss Out!

Whilst looking out for something different to read, I came across this little gem of a book by Rob Radcliffe.
I'm not giving the plot away like some of the others have. Just trust me and get it. It's a nice easy read with some laugh out loud moments. Good down to earth humour and written from a male perspective. On the strength of Meat Market, i've got all of Rob's books - even the ones I had to pay for (see i'm not that tight really) I like to find new talent and this is his debut novel and I hope, for him, it's the beginning of an amazing journey.

As everyone else, I picked this up as a freebie in the Kindle best sellers and thought I'd give it a shot because of how highly it was rated. I shan't go through any details as I'm sure you've read the description but the story follows down-on-his-luck Greg and the trials and tribulations after his life has been turned upside down.

The story was fast paced, well written and, most importantly, pretty bloody funny. There are definite parallels to the incredible Danny Wallace's work in the dry English humour and the transformation of shy, awkward, self deprecating man into someone who has made some questionably hilarious decisions and come out the better person for it. Lots of swearing, lots of laugh out loud moments and lots of "Oh okay just one more chapter...". It was great to read a book of this style by a man too - there are tonnes of chick-lit books with the typical female internal dialogue (which is all well and good but you don't want to always feel like you're reading your own diary...) but it's nice to see how the other half's brain works.

Very highly recommended and if you sign up to Rob Radcliffe's mailing list you get a free copy of another novel which is next on my reading list.

5,0 de 5 estrellas An easy & funny read.

I enjoyed this book, there is a good connection between the main male characters & I even thought that part of the plot where the main character, Greg, told extracts of the 'story' he was writing, that came across as being cleverly introduced into the overall story line & provides good breaks when reading the book in chunks. The author introduces some quite interesting personalities as the story progresses & ends the book with a somewhat important moral of what in life is actually really important & dealt with that specific topic very delicately indeed.

5,0 de 5 estrellas A good fun read

It annoys me sometimes when I read book reviews that suggests that "it would not happen like that" and nitpicks bits of the plot that might not be absolutely factually correct or "people wouldn't behave that way". If this is the case then we can dismiss almost every TV drama or film ever made. Not to mention, sometimes real life is stranger than fiction. Rob's book is funny and entertaining - approach it in this way and you will enjoy reading it. You will also find that at times it is surprisingly insightful and touching.

Five stars for a book that was entertaining and funny. I was hooked from the first page. The story, a young man ditched by his girlfriend of eight years who has to rethink his life. No money, a dead end job from which he is about to be sacked for breaking the boss' s nose.( A misunderstanding). A best friend who is aways flush with cash, clothes and cars, how does he do it? Couldn't put this book down! Not heard of this author before but will be looking out for more of his books. Well done Rob Radcliffe.

Didn't know what to expect when I ordered this book as I had never read any of this author's work before. Well what a surprise, I loved this book. I laughed out loud and cried too. Can't wait to read another book by this author. Also enjoyed reading about areas around near to were I live. Being a northern lass I got the authors sense of humour, which I enjoyed.

I recently started reading Rob Radcliffe's books and can honestly say this is a very good read. Greg is down on his luck women wise and his best mate Stu is just the man to bring him out of it! Stu is the successful witty one, always nicely dressed and looking good. Stu introduces Greg to his world but can Greg cope with it?
This is a very well written book, very funny, laugh out loud and just be thankful it's not you standing in Greg's shoes! Enjoy.
