I first want to state that this is a phenomenal drawing book and deserves 5+ stars. However....I purchased the new kindle ebook that is supposed to come with video and audio. Well.....the book pages with text and illustration are gorgeous. Disappointingly, not one of the videos shows up on either my iPad or kindle fire. In lieu of a video, there is a message that states that my device does not support this book's videos. Don't you love it? I contacted amazon.con who told me this was an audible.com book (I don't have an audible account and--anyway--I went to audible.com to see it this book was available there. It wasn't!? I consequently refunded the ebook edition of Ms. Aristide's drawing book. I do think I shall repurchase it in the hardcover edition, though, as it comes with a DVD that I know will work. A streaming video would have been great..... (sigh)
I couldn't finish it. The tone was so overbearing and the language was not inviting. I felt like the author was trying to prove that art is a science. While true, I wasn't reading for that proof - I wanted a guide on how to improve my craft. I feel like this could be very discouraging for many artists and I ended up putting it down in distaste.
I downloaded the kindle version of this book last night, and immediately started reading. This is a very good text on drawing. The author is in tune with proper art educational teaching. I gave it two stars because the images and video are horrible quality. Most of us are viewing on hi def screens, and it seems that the images loaded into the kindle version were made for 360p tv. The images in the hardcover book make for much better enjoyment, scrutiny. e-reading should enhance reading and viewing.
Found the content of this book to be vague. This book has not provided in depth instruction anywhere. A few videos which are provided are equally lame. Some of the illustrations given are of mediocre quality and could be quite frustrating when enlarged on kindle.
