I got the Lavender option, and really wasn't sure what the colour would be like - on the LCD screen of my laptop it looked like a lovely violet shade, on the OLED screens of my phone and tablet it looked a not so appealing pink! The reality is somewhere in between the two, but probably closer to how it looked on the OLEDs - it's definitely more pink toned than purple, but at the same time there is a distinct purple hue off it in certain lights. 'Heather' is the description that immediately came to mind for me when I first saw it. It's also much paler than it looked in the photos, which for me is actually a good thing given the pinkish colour. The denim type fabric has lighter and darker 'threads' in it when you look closely, which gives the colour an almost chalky appearance which I like.
That denim style outer fabric is really quite rough to the touch (so should hopefully be hard wearing), but the interior of the front flap - which is what I'm holding since I read with it flipped right back - has a lovely suede-like feel to it. When you do flip the front cover round to the back, it attaches there magnetically so it won't flap about if you're holding the Kindle with your left hand, which is a nice bonus. The back of the case, where the Kindle slots in, is open at the top and bottom, so the device is only gripped along the long sides. I actually quite like the symmetrical, minimalist look that gives it rather than having bits cut out for the charging port etc, but it's something to be aware of if you prefer to have all four sides of the Kindle covered for added protection.
The one real issue I had initially is that the bottom edge of the back part of the cover is really thin and hard, to the extent it was causing considerable discomfort and leaving indents in my fingers when I held the Kindle with a couple of them curled under for it to rest on. I've now changed the way I hold the Kindle so that it's the broader, rounded corner section against my hand rather than the sharp bottom edge, which is much more comfortable.

The tray fits the Kindle snuggly. The device holder has cut outs running right the way along the top and bottom edges of the device. This means that the power button and charging port on the bottom edge of the device are always accessible – but the extent of the cut-outs leaves quite a lot of the device exposed. The tray could have covered a lot more of the device and offered better protection.
The fabric is quite a thick-feeling, textured canvas-style fabric. It’s black, but not uniform in colour and has a slight sheen to it. The texturing does help to make this anti-slip. Around the edges of the front cover the fabric is sealed with a sort of rubbery coating – and if this behaves like the seal on previous generations of Kindle cases I have owned, over time will start to peel off.
The cover folds over easily for one-handed reading, if this is how you like to hold your device, but doesn’t feel floppy if you prefer to hold this opened outwards book-like. The front cover isn’t padded, but has a soft-textured, light grey microfibre lining to help protect the device's screen. Auto wake works as it should.
For me, this seems a little on the expensive side for the build quality and level of protection offered.
