This time around, I noticed ring included an updated wall bracket which feels much studier that the last model did. You may have noticed a number of negative reviews regarding the bracket just giving way. Well I don't think you need to worry with this one as it is much, much stronger. And the package as a whole is much lighter. It's made from a cheap plastic which to be fair is perfectly fine. You're.not going to be swinging your weight from it, or hanging things from it. It's just fine.
The camera it's self is of brilliant quality, and is unparalleled when compared to the competition.
That's where the positives stop...
I pay for a ring protect plus plan (which costs me £8 a month, £96 a year.) I have had nothing but problems with pretty much all of my ring devices. Drop outs, malfunctioning, and just in general playing up. I have reached out to numerous ring technical consultants for help, and not had a single stroke of luck getting any of the issues resolved. The only responses I would get, is "That's normal". Well if it was normal, why has it changed.
My lights are stuck on almost 24/7 (keeping in mind I have adjusted the light zones, the schedules and everything else.) Any time anything happens on video, the lights come on. (Even the rain sets the lights off!)
None of the Ring products work with Google assistant. And with no disrespect to Amazon, but Alexa isn't the best. It's not as refined as Google assistant. In many ways too. I just refuse to purchase an Echo/Alexa device.
So until Ring, can listen to their customers concerns, and resolve problems (even to those who are paying nearly £100 a year for the extra support) I will be taking my home security elsewhere. Never had I been so disappointed by such a big brand. Ring have bitten off far more than they can chew. It's unacceptable.

To start with, if you're watching it live then it looks really good! But the recording feature are actually really poor/ basic compared to other brands. The doorbells are good for the purpose of being a doorbell but they share the same issue as below. However, id score the doorbell 4 stars as it works great for me in the way it is setup.
Regardless, my review of this floodlight camera;
Fitting:
Fitting was straight forward. I thought the built in hook was a great idea to hold the camera up whilst you wired it up. The wiring is straight forward and very easy to follow.
On the other end of the cable i wired a plug to it and plugged it into a socket. It's much easier and cheaper than getting an electrician in to wire into the mains.
Lighting: nice bright lights which you can also turn on yourself if you wanted to. You also get a siren and 2 way talking built in which is a great feature.
Image quality;
If you are really close up or within 4 meters then it's crystal. If you are far away (the end of my drive a guess of 21 meters) then it's really poor. During the day, i can barely make out my number plate that is approx 7/10 meters away.
I also feel like my others are all slightly better like they are not quite made the same?
So good image quality for people approx 7 meters max, vehicles approx 6 depending on how the pixels are feeling at the time of recording... after that they tend to just be blurred faced / low quality. The closer, the clearer.
You can see in my photographs of the salesman. You can't see his face at all and can't even make out the company logo which was black on white and very clear to see from a distance but not for the ring cam.
Motion sensor;
At first it was picking up everything, cobwebs, cats etc. Then last night some dirty, stinking scrounger let himself into my car and the one time i wanted the motion sensor to work, it didn't.
And this is the problem and why i gave it 2 stars. I can cope with the quality because I'm only bothered if they're near my house!
But Ring do not record 24/7. You only get low SD quality snapshot still images between detected motion. They announced in 2019 24/7 is coming but as per their previous promises, it hasn't arrived and after speaking with their customer service today, i doubt it ever will.
So only when motion is detected, your camera records in HD for 2 minutes and HD only if they're close enough. Everything inbetween are just low quality snap shot images that play at lightning speed that you can't slow down.
I spent a fortune on these cameras and other ring products and i wish i never bothered now and went elsewhere as i really want 24/7 recording and better image quality.
I had an expensive hikvision setup on my previous home which was much better just the app was rubbish so thought I'd move to ring. What a mistake i made.
I would consider a different cloud based company that offers 24/7 recording if you are looking for a camera as these are not as good as you think.
