The USB cable has a standard USB A to USB mini B connector, so you're likely to have a few already which means there's no chance you'll have locating a cable!
The headphones are ok - they don't have padding for the ears, and they're very light on bass sounds. They'll do "in a pinch", but they don't serve the audio quality of the music player at all. Using your own expensive headphones, you'll hear excellent audio from the MP3 player.
The MP3 player has a colour screen on the top half, and a control pad on the lower half of the front face, which makes it easy to navigate the menus for finding the various features of the player.
These include:
E-Book, FM Radio, Video player, voice recorder, image viewer, and the main bit - the music player.
There's also a settings option where you can set the date and time, as well as things like the screen brightness.
The side of the device has a slot for the Micro SD Card (up to 64GB - about 16,000 songs worth of space, the built in 8GB provides space enough for around 2,000 songs.)
On the bottom is a "hardware" power switch that will cut off power entirely - for storing the unit for long amounts of time without the battery draining.
You can turn the music player off and on as well via the control buttons - this skips the "boot up" stage so it's a bit faster, but some power is used waiting for you to press "on" again, so the battery will very gradually drain over weeks.
There's a standard 3.5mm jack here for headphones, and lastly the micro USB B socket that's used for charging, and/or transferring songs to the inbuilt memory, and any additional Micro SD card you've added.
The music player is good - the audio is excellent, and track setup is fairly simple once you're skimmed through the instruction manual.
Volume and track select is controlled by the control buttons.
All the other modes - image view, e-book and so on are serviceable, there's no bugs that caused crashes, and they are all controlled in similar ways through the control buttons. But you're likely spend most of your time listening to music.
The player is excellent for long runs, and if you were to add a bluetooth mini transmitter and bluetooth headphones, and you get hours of wire free audio, without worrying about losing an expensive phone.
I use mine for listening to music and the morning radio show on the way to work. It's excellent, and the battery is lasting as long as it was specified.
