Like Scott Shanahan, she lists the foodstuff to avoid (toxic to dogs) and those that dogs can eat and enjoy. I have not had a single refusal from meals that I prepare and cook for my Setters although my Shih tzu prefers to just eat the chicken based meals with green veg. The recipes are explained well, and easy to follow, and the overall cost is really not as expensive as buying expensive manufactured dog food from the shelf in a store, which is often high in ash (Henrietta explains that ash content is indicative of very poor quality, nutrient poor food) and full of additives, preservatives and other junk (including horrible colourings ).
I agree with her that if you would not like to eat the food you give your doggy best friend, then why would you give it to them? My dogs coat and vitality has really improved since cooking food for them, and it is easy enough to prepare in advance (she gives the instructions for refrigerating and/or freezing the prepared dinners and treats). What I really like is the recipe for home cooked and dried kibble, which means that I can give my dogs something other than the shop bought kibble that is coated in horrid layers of fat, flavourings and other stuff, and which my dogs don’t like anyway. (Only one manufactured kibble is acceptable to them, but they don’t want it even if a cup of it is left out during the day, to ‘complement’ their home food diet).
Henrietta also provides a list of herbs that dogs can eat ( such as turmeric - good for arthritis ) in the correct amounts for the meal.
I have tried (eaten) many of the recipes in these books (and Scott Shanahan’s book) and they are very tasty.
Definitely try this book and/or the other ones mentioned in my review. You may be surprised how much your dog appreciates these yummy meals.

Natural simple ingredients and easy to make. Highly recommended.
