The killing starts up again...
More gruesome stabbings as the killer turns its attention to relatives and friends of thge
Have to say, was doubtful to whether i'd done the right thing by ordering the new version
of the slasher movies because although enjoying the first of the series because it was very different to the usual run-of-the-mill slasher-movies of the day, I did feel the sequels
became a bit silly if not comic, however, have to say, found this version so much better.
it was frequently tense, everyi-tme a character stepped through a door or turned around you half expected Ghostface to be there, though the film's final sequences were a little weak/disappointing....nevertheless worth a popcorn viewing.
Although fifth and sixth Scream instalments were discussed after the release of Scream 4 in 2011, Craven, writer Kevin Williamson, and executive producer Harvey Weinstein had doubts about proceeding with more films following the less-than-expected box office performance of the fourth film. After the 2017 sexual assault allegations against Weinstein and the closure of The Weinstein Company, the rights to the Scream franchise were obtained by Spyglass Media Group in November 2019, which confirmed a new film would later be made. The following year, Williamson, who was returning as an executive producer, confirmed the film would not be a reboot and that Radio Silence had been hired in March 2020 to direct the film. Campbell and Arquette were confirmed to be returning later that month, with Cox and the new cast members joining throughout the middle of the year. The film's production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so filming took place between September and November 2020 in North Carolina. To avoid any plot leaks, numerous versions of the screenplay were produced and several additional scenes were filmed.
Scream was theatrically released in the United States on January 14, 2022, by Paramount Pictures, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The film has grossed $140 million, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2022. It was praised by critics for honouring Craven's legacy and offering thoughtful meta-commentary on horror films, with some calling it the best of the Scream sequels. The development of a sequel was announced in February 2022, with a release date of March 31, 2023.
I went back and tried again, in case I clicked “French” by accident, and *definitely* clicked English this time. Still the menu came up in French.
Luckily I speak enough French to understand what all the options on the menu are, I played the film, and the film started playing with the default English audio track.
The film was great BTW; much better than Scream 3 or Scream 4. Only the original and Scream 2 are better.
The only reason I gave the review 4 stars rather than 5 was because of the fault with the menu. I may speak French (I knew those evening classes were a good idea, but I didn’t expect to need them to get through the menu to watch the UK DVD release of an English-language film); but “beaucoup de gens ne parlent pas français” and will struggle with the menu.
First of all .. why not Scream 5 ???
Anyway .. it sure is better than part 3 but in my opinion not better than part 4
Some of the new actors they don't have the weight to carry the franchise in the future and some others they seem to do.
Overall .. as someone who's fav horror franchise is Scream .. i was satisfied from this movie :)
