Good: this is all of Remington Steele and it's fun to watch (as long as you don't take it seriously).

Bad: the English language chapters are scrambled, so you have to start every episode in German and then switch language after. If you pick English on the main menu, you'll get all the scenes in a random order.

After a while "I don't even know his name!" starts to grate as it's straight after a long monologue about what a great detective she is. Still, it makes for a great drinking game.

Äntligen hela serien i en box. Svensk utgåva har endast innehållit säsong 1 &2 vilket förstås är olyckligt. Denna box är en tysk utgåva utan svenska undertexter. Som ljud finns tysk dubbning men turligt nog även orginalljudet och kan även kompletteras med engelska undertexter. Kvalitéten är tyvärr inte särskilt bra då flera episoder inte går att spela upp. Det drar förstås ned helhetbetyget. Serien i sig är värd 5 stjärnor men utgåvan får, p g a att vissa episoder inte går att spela, endast en stjärna.

Ich teile mir die Folgen in Häppchen ein. So genialer Wortwitz, so erstklassig gespielt. Ich habe sie geliebt und sie machen einfach gute Laune. Und wer noch zögert: Kauft sofort die komplette Serie, alles andere ist rausgeschmissenes Geld. "The Best of" war mir nicht mehr genug.

... weil einige Folgen schlicht und einfach nicht im Free- TV kommen
... weil der Preis doch unter die Hemmschwelle kommt und man dann eben kauft.

Es ist schon schön,
daß man die Werbung (aus den TV- Mitschnitten) nicht mehr raus schneiden muß.
daß man sich alles einfach in der Reihenfolge berieselnd nebenbei anhören / sehen kann.

Hoffen wir, daß alle DVD's soweit funktionieren... bisher habe ich keinen Fehler gefunden.
Die Serie ist kein Meisterwerk, aber inzwischen doch deutlich besser als viele aktuelle Versuche.

Just doing a quick review for non-german-speaking people who wish to buy this German set, as the US sets are now out of print.

First, the price is very reasonable (if you ship outside of the EU, the tax will be deducted, but shipping will be higher).

The 30 discs, (avg. 3 episodes per disc) are in folded cardboard packaging (1 per season except for seasons 4 and 5, put together), each season comes with a 4-page leaflet with the name of episodes in German, English and original US date of broadcast, with the extras listed per disk. You should expect your packaging to be a bit torn or crumpled here and there as it is light cardboard, but it does keep a good and decent shape. The set is highly illustrated, it has some great shots of Zimbalist, Brosnan and Roberts. It's a very handsome box set.

Each disc has a menu authored in German, but easily understandable, navigating to choose the English audio tracks and subtitles is very easy. You can also choose the German audio, but you'll notice that in certain episodes some parts are not dubbed, this is the case with a lot of foreign series broadcasted in Germany, the original US episodes were cut for time, or censorship, hence some parts were never dubbed. As this set uses the US master, they are uncut episodes.

All extras from the US sets have been carried here, all short featurettes, and even episode commentaries (including one with Pierce Brosnan on the first episode).

Finally, if you are familiar with the US set, you know that the masters used for this transfer have noticeably aged, they do look old and unclean but are highly watchable. There are 3 out of the 6 episodes of Season 5 who are quite poor videotape copies, still watchable but kinda annoying. If a Blu-Ray set were in the work, I would expect a good restoration, but Remington Steele looks good and organic for a 40-year-old series on DVD.
