Bought this for my brother in laws birthday as he is a keen cyclist and he loves it. It’s a very big book but good quality and lots of photos and a very interesting story. Well worth it, good coffee table book.
I saw this book in a garden centre and wanted to buy it there and then, purely because of the images and the look and feel of the book that you can't get online. It was fairly expensive, so I waited until its price went down a little and bought it on here. The images and the story in the book are fantastic. If this doesn't give you itchy feet, nothing will. A perfect 'coffee table' book.
One of the best travel books I've found, produced with a designer's sensibility and gestalten's quality. The writing is sparse but rich, and the photos are stunning. The travelogue is candid, filled with accounts of good times and bad, from camping on Thai beaches to icy mountain passes, and from days of loneliness to the sensory overload of India. If you've ever dreamt of exploring the world with little more than a bike and a tent, this book is for you.
Absolutely gorgeous book. Informative, fascinating, well organized, with beautiful photography and a logical, intuitive layout. Every page is meticulously thought out but blends seamlessly with the whole. You can feel how difficult and epic the journey was at the same time as you marvel at the beauty of the places he traveled. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my bike-obsessed husband but will probably hog it for a while! :)
Biking through an entire continent, dealing with adversity, altitude, terrain, weather... that on it's own is a very hard and impressive accomplishment. But to be able to take a reader through it is and captivate your audience, is a total different level. I'm not a cyclist and I LOVE the book!
