As a fan of Notting Hill and Love Actually I felt this might be in a similar vein, and I wasn't disappointed.

Firstly the wonderful twist at the end that made so much sense when you think back to the actual content of the story. Kate and Tom's 'relationship' immediately made the viewer feel this was something that was both special and yet somewhat strange - enough said about that (have no wish to spoil anyone's pleasure.

The acting, direction and location is all perfect and fits together like a jigsaw.

I enjoyed watching this so much that I am almost ready to watch it again, especially with the knowledge of the whole film already well situated inside my brain.

A lovely story well told and extremely well acted and directed.

Why on previews do they only show good bits,so you think this dvd is worth waiting for and you pre order it, Oh what a disappointment when you endure watching it. I could only painfully watch about half of it before stopping it taking it out of dvd player and ditributing it it rubbish bin. the only good bits in what I did enjoy were the snippets of George Michael songs. In my opinion it does not deserve 1 star but you have to give it something. Some might like but I DID NOT

I don’t usually write reviews and it’s a shame that I’m writing a bad one about this film as I really like all the actors. Unfortunately. this film is quite awful and painful to watch. It’s every cliche going but unlike in films like Love Actually it doesn’t work. Emilia Clarke just seems to be playing the same character as in Me Before You and the whole ditsy girl routine becomes quite tiring very quickly. I would advise not to watch this film as there are much better rom coms out there and the only good thing was the soundtrack.

First the positives. The evocation of London at Christmas is charming. The city looks beautiful. The script is clever but its delivery, with the director aiming at naturalism, is underpowered and fails to convince. As a result the central romance unfortunately fails to convince too. There are so many clever ideas about society, Brexit, race & ethnicity added to the mix that it’s sad they ultimately don’t gel but feel more politically correct ingredients than dramatically effective parts of this filmic Christmas pudding. Then of course we have the surprise twist that is so shocking it borders on the comic at best and the rather distasteful at worse. Still “Last Christmas” is relatively entertaining but misses out on being the seasonal classic it could have been if it had had better direction of the charming leads and not such a grotesque twist ending!
