Before this item we had her harness strappled into one of those pet belts. The only problem we had was that shed still wonder the back seat, no matter how short we made the belt, shed always have room to move. The boyfriend has leather chairs too. So the moment hed break or turn a corner. Her furry little bum would slide all over. Couldnt tell you the amount of times she ended up slipping all over the place, once she slipped into the footwell and one time she got free of the belt and ended up climbing through the front seats and on me. All this between vet visits made her a very anxious passanger, who would cry and shake.
When I saw this product I knew we had to give it a try. Price margin in my opinion was very high, however I decided to jump in and go for it. And I am glad I did! I now have 2, one for each of the cars.
This little booster seat is amazing. We have gone from anxnious dog who cried in the car and did nothing but shake to a dog who has mastered Zen. Its made her comfortable on car rides, she can see out the window if she wants to or sleep in it, which she does a lot! Shes tried escaping the seat once (shibas are well known for being escape artists and stubborn when they get an idea) She didnt get too far due to the harness attachment.
The structure of the item is great too. Its very nice and stirdy. Im not worried she will break the seat nor am I worried she will fly out if we stop suddenly. The quality of the product is great. Loads better than the cheaper seats out there.
Id love it if they did a slightly bigger seat, but Shibas are quite like cats, if they fits they sits! Needless to say, I am a very happy dog mum. We now go all over the place for long walks as we know she looks forward to sitting in her seat.

He was a little unsure of the basket at first and I was worried the frame would buckle under his struggles but it stead fast and help up. He soon calmed down and lay down in the basket. I think I might need to put a few more blankets in the bottom as he was able to pull up the bottom panel, and had trouble laying his head on the side.
As you can see by the pictures though he was content and as a bonus was still able to look out the window when he wanted to (he loves to watch cars).
It lost a star as I did notice it slipped down a bit under his weight, but still held up above the seat. If I could only mark it down half I would. It was easy to fit and he seemed overall happy with it, so I was to! There was plenty of space for him to sit, lie down and move around, as he won’t get much bigger (being a mini dachshund) he won’t outgrow it.
Pretty happy with the purchase so far!
Bonus picture of when he decided to lie on his back 😂

I was T-boned on a freeway overpass by some jerk hit and run driver. My car spun out of control, slammed into the guardrail several times, and almost flipped over the 50ft overpass before slamming down and finally coming to a stop.
I looked in the back and my chihuahua mix, Gustav, was on the floor ***still attached to the booster harness*** and was happily smiling and wagging his tail as if he had just ridden a fun roller coaster! There wasn't a scratch on him. Not even a bruise.
My Scion TC was beyond wrecked, the axle and wheels were even ripped off. Every airbag was deployed.
Gustav was wearing a harness secured to the booster in the *front* seat. What happened is that the box-like booster protected my dog from the airbags and the harness connected kept my dog from being thrown in the car or going through the windshield. He had jumped in the back seat after the car stopped.
One of the CHP officers on the scene told me there was no way my dog would've survived that accident without the seat and harness. He said he's seen a lot of dead dogs. I'm tearing up right now because I'm playing with Gustav instead of cremating him.
As for me, I walked away with bruises and a torn ligament. I just have to use a walker and cane to get around for a month or two and I'll be fine. Oh yeah, and the booster seat suffered zero damage so I can continue to use it when I can drive again.
I love Gustav so very much. Thank you to the people at Kurgo for saving him. Thank you thank you thank you and God bless!!!

Edit October 29th, 2018:
I was reading another review where someone mentioned that a Kurgo product failed a vehicle safety test. I looked it up and the claim is true. However - The test, performed by the nonprofit Center for Pet Safety (CPS), was performed in 2015 for the Kurgo Wander Carrier, a backseat attachable pet carrier.
I cannot speak for the carrier in question. I can only say that this particular Kurgo product saved my dog's life. What I left out earlier is that both the CHP officer on the scene and the doctor who examined me were so impressed with the booster seat that they took note of the brand so they could buy the seat for their own dogs.
Sorry for the long edit, I just want y'all to believe me. XD
