tengo un pinpointer de 23 euros me compre el garette por la fama que tienen el pinpointer viejo chino de 23 euros supera al garette en todo y no exagero en serio quede alucinado literalmente pagamos la marca
I just received my "new" Garrett Pro-Pointer AT pinpointer. After reading all the instructions, the unit would NOT turn on. I opened up the bottom and the 9v battery was inserted aligned with the contacts. I expected the battery to be upside down or have some kind of an insulated buffer between the terminals and contacts. Best case scenario (tests at .21 v) the battery is completely discharged and I have to make my way to purchase a new one. I've written Garrett to see if this is the way new units are actually shipped, or is this a sign the unit is used, returned, and resold. I live rural and no easy task to get to a store to purchase and try a new battery. I'll update my review pending the outcome and response from Garrett.
Prior to owning the Pro-Pointer AT, I used and abused the Pro-Pointer II (5 yrs of service and wore the tip off of it). Do to being pleased with the service of the Pro-Pointer II I was excited to upgrade to the new AT and take advantage of the new upgrades (being water proof and having the ability to select different detection settings) . For the last year I have used the Pro-Pointer AT and was fairly happy with its performance. I did go through a period of time where I struggled with shutting it of VS. changing the detection settings. I chalked that up to operator error... Over the last month I started having trouble with the Pin-Pointer not working when I would turn it on. The times I would get it to work (by cycling the power on and off) it would keep ringing once you got it close to metal (You have to cycle the power off to get it to quit). I changed out the batteries numerous times thinking that might be the problem (symptoms of a dead battery are very similar). no luck... Talking to my dad who also has the Pro-Pointer AT, he described having very similar issues with his Pin-Pointer after using for about one year. With all the warning signs, I decided to purchase a new one! After a couple of times out detecting the Pin-Pointer is exhibiting the same behavior as the other two, but with very little usage. So my advice is go with something else or purchase at your own risk, hopefully you have better luck than we have.
This was gifted to me years ago. i recently took it out of the box and was initially impressed. After about 8 hours of use on dry soil, i decided to try using in 3 inches of water in a creek bed hunt. When i first submerged it I thought i found my target but it turns out the device was going haywire. I opened up the compartment to find water had gotten in. It has since dried out and does not respond to metal.
Customer service said it would be $35, plus shipping, and parts to have it repaired. I'm not convinced it is worth it, seeing as it does not live up to its claim. Certainly not worth $130 and i will not be buying a new product from here.
Had great expectations but having major problems, it goes off even if its not near anything.I don't know if this one is a dud ,but I made the mistake of not using it for a long while after buying it, believing in the performance reviews, I need to talk to somebody about what to do, as it is very erratic and not reliable.
Overly complicated to use. Has several levels of sensitivity but you can never tell which one as the unit seems to choose whatever it wants. A nightmare in the field and the unit is almost impossible to shut off because it wants to go into settings mode. Just when you think it's ready to use, it starts falsing in your hand, VERY distracting and a time waster..
This tool is over engineered for the average user. Stick to the much cheaper pinpointers that are simply "on" or "off".
We wanted this metal detector to be able to deteced lead pellets in dove breasts. It did not and we tried pellets inside and outside the dove breast with no activation. It will work great on larger metal pieces.
