Bought this when it was on offer just to try. Wasn’t expecting much but was extremely surprised by the quality of the coffee. Opening the bag and you got an amazing beautiful coffee fresh smell. I have two methods of brewing coffee and the coffee works well with both. Bought a 2nd box due to great results.

Rocket R58 with Mazzer Royal. 16 Grams espresso shot to make an Americano. Lovely rich taste with no bitterness.

Hario V60 with Feld 47. Again a black coffee with the same dose producing similar results.

The price seems to have gone up but I think it’s still worth the money. One of my favourite coffee’s just hope they can maintain the quality. On the 2nd box and still taste the same.

Might try some of there other coffee.

Update 14/01/2021

So I am on my third box of coffee and I have noticed a decline in quality between the first and third boxes. The new box I have just opened is a million miles away in taste from the initial batch. The latest coffee is very bland and tasteless. The fantastic aroma you got when opening the bag is gone. I can’t recommend these any more hence dropping my review to 2 stars.

Absolutely garbage, so bitter had to bin all 12 packets just after one drink. I took a gamble buying these and I have to say it didn’t pay off. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Cheap packeting and terrible quality

one of the most important aspects of using whole beans for coffee is making sure the coffee is fresh. Ideally you want them roasted within 3 months of you using them. Earlier is better. However I have been into coffee shops where they sell beans and found them out of date …. given that beans go out of date around 12-24 months after the roasting date that is indeed appalling. Now these beans are dated 3 months after roasting I am assuming and their expiry was in 2021. so I'm happy i'm not getting fobbed off with old beans which is the main problem buying online.

Next the beans themselves …. if they are under roasted the get a little 'sticky' when being ground and you can get a overbearing citrus flavour. The Grinder also tends to grind coarser as lumps pass through. In this case it was a little coarser but I think it was an intentional short roasting as the packet describes a citrus and caramel hint of flavour and they are right … the flavour is there.

Lastly the price … this works out around £10 a kg which again is about right for the market (excluding outliers like Kopi Luwak and Jamaican Blue Mountain which are hitting £100+ a kilo … madness !) I would there fore give this 4 stars … Amazon for 'I like it' and I would recommend giving this a whirl. It might be your flavour profile and if it is then this is fairly good quality

Described as having a chocolate and citrus notes, I thought this Ethiopian coffee beans might be an interesting change from my usual Antiguan coffee beans. I think these Extravaganza Ethiopia beans might please some people, but for me, I found the flavour quite poor, and a little harsh. It wasn't as smooth as I would have hoped. On making my first cup of coffee using these beans, using my bean to cup coffee maker, I loved the aromas, it had a very chocolaty and coffee smell. However, I found the citrus element too dominating, with the chocolate flavours fairly subtle in the tasting. It was drinkable, hence giving it two stars and not one, and I did wonder if it was just me and my tastes in coffee, but I also served to a friend (who is normally less fussy than me) and they too wasn't that impressed.

I love my coffee, I can't get started in the morning till I've had my first cup no matter what the source.

But you can't beat freshly ground coffee whether used in a filter machine or a more esoteric expresso type machine. Personally I tend to use a filter machine generally as it is easy to make a full jug which keeps me going for a few hours.

So I was looking forward to trying these Ethiopian coffee beans, grinding them the aroma was superb and I found my mouth watering before I'd even put the beans into the coffee machine. Some time later I finally got to taste my freshly brewed coffee and was very very pleasantly surprised. I found the coffee to be very smooth with a full bodied and rounded flavour. I have to say that first pot of coffee was gone in no time flat and the next brewing very soon after. I think I will be ordering this again in the very near future :)
