Es una serie magistral que recoge muy bien el espíritu de la Biblia. La parte del Antiguo Testamento plasma muy bien el calvario que tuvo que pasar el pueblo judío desde sus comienzos. La parte del Nuevo Testamento me gusta especialmente, pues refleja muy bien el amor que llenaba toda la obra de Jesús. La serie refleja la crudeza de la época antigua, donde todo se resolvía a fuerza de espada y matanzas. La considero un básico para todo creyente que no quiera perder detalle.

La edición en blu-ray es defectuosa. Las presentaciones previas al capítulo no están convenientemente dobladas. Partes del doblaje de algunos capítulos están ausentes. La edición de este título (motivador y recomendable para cualquiera) es de baja calidad.

Ya la ví en su dia en televisión y me encandiló.
Indispensable para todo aquel que quiera conocer nuestros origenes.
Muchos detalles,resalta todos y cada uno de los momentos clave de el Exodo,Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento.
Despues de verla de nuevo me quedè sin palabras,la mejor adaptacion que existe a dia de hoy,la recomiendo altamente a los que conocen los hechos biblicos y a los que los quieran conocer,ya que quedarán fascinados.
En cuanto a amazon un 10 en servicio,trato y fecha de entrega y el mejor precio del mercado,gracias.

Está muy bien la serie tanto para creyentes como no creyentes. La Bíblia explica la historia de la humanidad desde la creación hasta la resurrección de Jesús de Nazaret.
Pero aconsejo haber leido el Nuevo Testamento antes de verla, para tener una mayor claridad, ya que en mi opinión en algunos aspectos le faltaria mayor veracidad a la historia del libro.

This TV series, consisting of 10 episodes, seeks to bring to life several events described in the Bible. And, although I'm not a religious person, I found this show very enjoyable.

The series does not attempt to tell the whole Biblical story in detail. Rather it selects a number of important events, and focuses on these - from Moses leading up to the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus.

The quality of the show is excellent, with fantastic special effects. The acting is good. Overall, this is a movie-like experience.

I recommend this to anyone interested in the Bible, regardless of whether you're religious. For those interested, a sequel series has been made: A.D.: The Bible Continues [Region 1 ].

You get ten three-quarter-hour episodes altogether. The first five zero in on some of the most famous characters in the Old Testament: Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Samson, Saul, Nathan, David, Daniel, Jeremiah, with glimpses too of Adam, Noah, Solomon. The second half of the series tells the New Testament story in much more comprehensive detail, going beyond the gospels to the narrative of Acts.

The overall feel of the series is of something pretty well produced. The teleplays are reasonably competent, the cast (innocent of star names) much more convincing than is usual for biblical dramas, the Moroccan settings impressive, the CGI respectable. Highlights for me included robustly martial angels, the most memorable Pilate of my experience and, in the dominant role of Jesus, an actor notably successful in projecting kindness, tenderness, warmth. This is a Jesus into whose arms any child would unhesitatingly run for a hug.

The reason I've withheld a fifth star is that throughout the series, but especially in the first half, the amount of violence is even more than I'd feared. It isn't as graphic as it could have been, and it's certainly justified by the scriptural source, but the sheer quantity of slashing, stabbing and throat-slitting that you have to sit through is to my mind a bit off-putting. I'd gladly have traded much of this battling for a deeper insight into Jewish theology - after all, it's Jewish faith, not Jewish wars, that give Judaism its claim on our attention.

With this single caveat, I think that anyone considering buying this set would probably be pleased with their purchase. (The Blu-rays' picture and sound quality, by the way, is all that you'd expect from a new American TV series, i.e. entirely satisfactory)

This is a fine show, and a worthy successor to the extensive 90's anthology. I found some of the special effects appear cheaper than on other high budget TV shows. The storytelling is fine; the show does breeze over certain stories, but going over the Old Testament in 5 installments was bound to cause that. On the other hand I found some of the acting a bit too over the top, but it is the Bible after all.
The Blu-ray itself looks and sounds great. It comes with both the original American narrator as well as the British.

I'm sorry to say that this production of the Bible stinks! The producers have completely missed the purposes of God, through the big characters and stories of the Bible, which should express the tender mercies of God, working through human history to work out his purpose, which is his great act of love for a fallen man, in that he gave his own son to pay the debt of man's rebellion. Sure, the filming is good as are the actors however, the narrative is terrible. Any student of the Bible, maybe even the casual reader would quickly realise that it is the expression of the love of God is clearly missed. Despite the mis-handling of the stories themselves, and the poor attempt at trying to be an action style genre, they failed to tell the greatest story ever told!

This was an achievement to compact the essence of the Bible into such a package. I only have a few quibbles about this.
1. I felt they could have continued and done the Book of Acts also.
2. The Narration can be quite annoying and it always defaults to the American narration. If you want Robert Powell, one must manually choose it each time. I felt it would have been better had this narration been done with text on the screen as it comes across as being an imposition each times it blasts out.
3. My biggest annoyance was that at the start of each episode, there was a review of the previous episode. Also, at the end of each one, they include a preview of the next episode. I can understand this for a TV broadcast, but for DVD home viewing, I felt that this was totally unnecessary. There should at least have been a menu option to disable this.

So, I have dropped a star for these reasons.
