Fantastic, gripping read!Revisado en Reino Unido el 1 de agosto de 2020
From the start I found this book quite hard to put down, you feel like a ‘fly on the wall’ looking down at this life slipping away. The style of writing is brilliant, going down this dark path of lost hope and inevitably life, you snap right back into the action of what his life was like beforehand and all the things that happened that led him to this downfall to rock bottom. Throughout all of the lighthearted, witty moments, the sex, him becoming a ‘legend’ you never forget in the back of your mind the actual state he is in, how much he loves his son. Whilst other people will revel in this party lifestyle, all he wants is to have his son. He tries to live the night life, making one mistake after another and his ‘out of control’ life starts off as a few flirts and one night stands and rapidly becomes a blur, after the ‘triple crown’ we see his mind fall deeper into this depression, with the two sisters and him almost being vacant from real life after this, until were snapped into the absolute carnage of what led to the end. You go on a journey with him, you imagine how frustrated he is, putting on this mask, but not quite being able to hold it all the time, especially with the rude customers, you almost feel the tension in his life. You almost want to scream at other characters ‘help him!’. Until one day he snaps, he’s left with nothing. Then we start to see a glimmer of hope again toward the end, almost forgetting we may already know the outcome, where he has his son and Chrissy, all for it to come crashing down, yet again. Very very clever writing, with the flash backs, never losing sight of what part of the story you’re in, you feel every inch of what he feels. The clues throughout which you don’t want to quite believe would lead to the ending. The right amount of humour, mixed in with the dark themes running throughout, one not spoiling the other. You’re laughing out loud one minute and then really feeling for him the next, crashing you back to the reality that it’s a persons life, about to be lost. Completely gripping. Had my absolute full attention, couldn’t put it down because I needed to see what was next. Completely relatable to anyone who has or does suffer with depression. How you don’t see a way out. How one thing could have such a massive impact on your life and what path you take next. Gets you right in the feels.

Really enjoyed Rob's other books and this hasn't disappointed either. I read this in a day and then kicked myself for not making it last longer. A returning character from Meat Market and a story that's funny, a tad saucy, wee bit sad but a whole lot entertaining. You need to read it!
