Would have been very nice if Audioengine included tone controls. At least a remote that had tone control on it like the Kanto Syd has .I dont expect audiophile sound from a product like this though. It puts out decent sound. However, when I use it playing music or movies through Windows media player There is a eq to bump up the treble which helps but also "srs wow effects" which helps expand the sound of the speaker to another level.Definitley makes it sound more dynamic !
When I use Pandora which I love though there is no way to have any tone control .Gonna keep it.I will admit I am surprised at the level of volume it produces considering the main drivers are less than 3 inches in size.

I have electronic experience and have personally restored my 1980's Luxman,Nakamichi, and Adcom stereo equipment.Just for giggles I took 2 extra pairs of .10uf metal film capacitors and parallelled them onto the 4.7uf and 12uf capacitors on the crossover network inside the speaker. That certainly helped where this speaker is more to my liking.
For those not as picky as I am then yes I do recommend it at least for a computer speaker.I flat out hate Bluetooth sound so I will never use it for that.I use either a Schiit dac or Audioquest Dragonfly Red connected to it either from an old cell phone or my laptop.Would highly recommend an external dac to connect to the speaker.
The B2 does do a good job of providing decent background sound for a living room.I have not owned it that long so I cannot comment on the longevity of the product.I did notice very cheap Chinese capacitors on the circuit boards inside it but only time will tell.

Four months later and still working.I use the auxiliary port for my external dac plugged into it.Growing more fond of it and use it almost every day including piping Pandora thru it while i sleep.

5,0 de 5 estrellas A superb stereo bluetooth speaker

Over the past few months, I've been slowly getting rid my large collection of dust magnet jewel cases and their CDs from our master bedroom bedside table and the CD towers in the living room and home office, slowly rebuilding my mostly classical music collection to ITunes MP4s purchased for my Windows 7 desktop and my IPad Air. It's time to get rid of the large and bulky 7 year-old Tivoli Hi-Fi system in the bedroom with its unreliable CD player and the repeatedly troublesome Classe Audio CD transport that's long been a part of my main stereo system. Time to replace the Tivoli with a nice bluetooth speaker and connect the stereo system to my desktop system.

After considerable research, I started with the Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Speaker for about $200. Very small, portable, and sounds quite good for its size, with decent bass and OK mids and highs. For my home office desktop, I upgraded from some plastic legacy Altec speakers to the Audioengine A2+ Premium speakers with rubber mounts. Extremely natural and dynamic sound, excellent bass down to about 75Hz and smooth, natural mids and highs. After listening to the A2+ speakers for about three weeks, I was sold. That's when I found the Audioengine B2 bluetooth speaker here at Amazon for $299. It's really two of those superb A2+s fused together into a very attractive minimalist wood veneered bluetooth patckage. The B2 now sits on our master bedroom table along with the iPad Air, where it plays my iTunes playlists and fills the room with great sound. IMO, the B2 is by far the best bluetooth speaker out there at this time (until Audioengine decides to create and sell a larger A5+-based version). The small and portable Bose Mini? We take that out into the yard during patio lunches and gardening sessions, or when we go on vacation and want a decent bluetooth speaker for the hotel room.

12/21/2014 Update: My wife and I were so impressed with my first AudioEngine B2, we went ahead and ordered a second for the den. Since I first took ownership of the first B2, a few issues have come to my attention. First, I strongly recommend that you purchase and mount two black rubber Audioengine ADS1 Desktop Speaker Stands (also available from Amazon.com) side by side directly underneath the center of the B2 unit, just below the woofers and woofer ports. This will make an immediate improvement in the B2's sound quality, significantly improving the bass response (to what appears sub-60 Hz performance) and tilting the B2 speakers slightly upward, better directing the sound in your listening direction. Second, give the speakers about a week of extensive listening to allow them to "break in" properly. Third, if you use an iOS device (Ipad, Iphone, etc.) to connect to the B2 bluetooth speakers, be aware that at the present time they'll both appear under the same name in your Bluetooth settings and you might experience a bit of a hassle connecting to the correct B2 at any given time. The folks at AudioEngine are aware of this shortcoming (Android devices already allow you to custom rename your bluetooth devices). The AudioEngine reps assure me they've contacted Apple support and asked that an upcoming iOS 8.x update correct this problem. Finally, the clear, natural, and very smooth sound of the B2 bluetooth speakers continues to amaze me (as one would expect from conjoined A2+ speakers).

5,0 de 5 estrellas Audioengine B2 dual speaker - good fidelity sound but shy on deep bass

Bought this compact 2-in-1 speaker system for my desktop PC. When it arrived, I thought I would first use it with my new Sony LED TV as a soundbar. I connected it to the Headphone Out jack (3.5mm stereo plug) of the TV and plugged the power cord into a 120VAC receptacle. This little speaker has a built-in analog amplifier and produces a very clean and dynamic sound as a TV soundbar. Being a small speaker, it of course has limited low bass output, but I can buy a matching subwoofer later on if I want thundering bass. So, ignoring the low bass issue, the upper bass, midrange and treble are very nice, with low distortion. This speaker system and it works well in my 23' x 21' living room.

Going to echo what others have said here. This unit requires some burn in time to get the full range out of it. When it first arrived it sounded tight and anemic. After keeping it and using it a few hours a day for the last month or so it sounds beautiful. Precise and responsive with no overpowering in any range. This is connected currently through a high quality audio cable with a 300-600 ohm boost on a Xonar Essence sound card. Very happy with the purchase especially at this price point.

If you want an all in one
1) powered) speaker
2) BOTH channels in one portable box
3) don't want battery powered because it compromises sound quality
4) easy reliable blue tooth connectivity

then THIS is a good candidate. GOOD sound quality; DO NOT expect lots of bass; portable as long as you have an AC outlet handy. It takes NOTHING to setup and play off your phone/tablet etc and you can control volume on your device or on the speaker at the back. Very little to dislike. The shipment came in quickly and double boxed. always appreciated. stay safe and LISTEN TO MORE MUSIC. It will make everything better.

5,0 de 5 estrellas Bold rich sound in a small package

Was looking for a nice high quality Bluetooth speaker for our den. (Not the cheap small plastic ones that are a dime a dozen.)

I was actually looking into the Bose Soundlink and came across this Audioengine B2 on a CNET review and started researching.

The look and feel as well as the fit and finish on this speaker is superb.

I am honestly 100% satisfied with this speaker.

Highs are crisp and mid-base is tight and punchy.

I knew going in, given the size of the drivers it wouldnt hit that low, but with that said they have excellent excursion and move some air.

Easily fills the room with sound, however it is pretty directional (which is fine for me)

Setup and pairing was a breeze.

Been listening all evening: Jazz, classical, big band, reggae, classic rock and the like sound absolutely astonishing.

More demanding/"harsher" styles of music such as hard rock, metal, electronica, hip-hop, rap, etc... isn't as clean at volume and distortion starts becoming apparent (mostly in the low frequencies) as well as a separation in "fullness".

Again, keep in mind what it is.

With that said, I'm glad I made the purchase.

I purchased 8 to use as speakers in my home theater system combined with Klipsch speakers. I don't need blue tooth but it works nice. The speakers are beautiful and solid. They look pro with speaker grilles removed. They sound very good. They do produce some hum at full loudness with no signal passing thru. That's my only gripe to an otherwise great speaker. Definitely recommend.

When I plugged in the speaker, there was nothing. No flashing Bluetooth button, no hiss from the speakers, and phone would not detect. Tried different outlet in house with same result, and yes, I turned on the power switch. Additionally, this unit did not have a provision for an antenna but the picture on the box showed it. One good thing is a replacement will be here this Wednesday. The return process through Amazon was pretty easy. I was bummed receiving the dead unit since it was exciting to remove the heavy and well crafted speaker from the box only experience silence.
