Cute movie
Revisado en Canadá el 12 de diciembre de 2018
Tony Curtis and Suzanne Pleshette are both wonderful in this very cute romantic comedy. One of those simple, endearing, and fun movies from the 1960s. It is a loose remake of the Shirley Temple film "Little Miss Marker" which I also enjoyed. If this sounds like your kind of movie, go ahead and buy it! :)

This is a real good FAMILY movie, and Tony Curtis and Susanne Pleshette act well together. Curtis is a real comedian as usual.

Amazing scenes shot in Disneyland when it was only 7 years old!
Revisado en los Estados Unidos el 4 de mayo de 2021
This no-frills DVD is of good quality. I have no complaints about it.
This is a pleasantly schmaltzy, family-oriented film released in 1962. It is a remake of the enormously popular film, Little Miss Marker, from 1934, which featured Shirley Temple when she was only six years old. It was her first starring role in a major motion picture, and it established her as an A-List star.
Though Shirley was the obvious lead actor of LMM, in the case of this remake, the clear focus of the story is Tony Curtis, who was then at the height of his career. This film was made only three years after one of my all time favorite movies of his, Some Like it Hot. Tony was 37 at the time of this film and quite gorgeous. His romantic interest in the film is Suzanne Pleshette. She was only 25 at the time and quite gorgeous as well. This was only her third film, and her second starring role. The other lead role was a film made in 1962 as well, the romantic melodrama, Rome Adventure, with costar, Troy Donahue (who was a young, handsome hunk of 26 back then).
The child actor who plays the Shirley Temple role, Claire Wilcox, was seven years old at the time. She was very cute and did a serviceable job of acting but, of course, her performance inevitably suffers in comparison to Shirley’s.
Phil Silvers shows up at the end of this comedic film in a typically, terrifically funny turn, and I always enjoy watching him on screen.
This movie was shot on location at beautiful Lake Tahoe and at Disneyland. The chase scenes in Disneyland are ridiculously unrealistic, but I didn’t mind at all, because it was like taking a really fun tour of Disneyland in its very earliest days. As a huge Disney fan, it was worth the price of admission for this DVD for that experience alone.
This film was directed by Norman Jewison. It is the very first film he directed, in what would become a long and stellar career stretching across 41 years until 2003. Two other early, G-rated, romantic comedies that he directed that I love are: The Thrill of It All (1963), with Doris Day and James Garner, and Send Me No Flowers (1964), with Doris Day and Rock Hudson.
There have been two other remakes of Little Miss Marker besides this one, including:
Sorrowful Jones (1949), with Bob Hope and Lucille Ball, and Little Miss Marker (1980), with Walter Matthau, Julie Andrews, Tony Curtis (in a lesser role that time), Bob Newhart, Brian Dennehy and Lee Grant.

Lake Tahoe & Disneyland
Revisado en los Estados Unidos el 11 de septiembre de 2019
Back in the early 1960's this was a popular film and it was also quite a step up from any Jerry Lewis movie that was competing for the same audience. Tony Curtis, is living and working in South Lake Tahoe when a young girl is abandoned at the casino he is employed at and creates more than a few problems. Phil Silvers and Suzanne Pleshette round out the cast and there are more pretty girls in this movie to take your eyes of the scenery of the Sierra Nevada mountains and then much later in the film the Disneyland Park near Los Angeles.
This is a fun and fast moving comedy that reflects it's era perfectly. I enjoyed this as a young kid and today in 2019 it's still a fun romp in the park and it's also a history lesson of by-gone times sixty years ago.
Four Stars!
